The rotary kiln cyclone separator is a common gas-solid heterogeneous separation device characterized by a simple design and ease of manufacture. Its separation efficiency depends not only on the properties of the solid phase, dust concentration, dust particle size distribution, and operating conditions, but is also closely related to the equipment’s design dimensions and manufacturing precision.


(1) Air Inlet Configurations: tangential inlet, inclined spiral inlet, volute-shaped inlet, and axial inlet.

(2) Primary Design Criteria: production capacity (volume flow rate of dust-laden gas), required separation efficiency, and allowable system pressure drop.

(3) Key Dimensions: cylinder diameter, inlet cross-sectional area, and cylinder height.

(4) Diffusion-type rotary kiln cyclone separator.

(5) Parallel Design: To increase the system’s processing capacity while maintaining high separation efficiency, multiple units are typically operated in parallel; however, the gas flow must be evenly distributed, otherwise separation efficiency will be significantly reduced.

(6) Manufacturing and Installation:

① Manufacturing precision: The inner wall of the separator cylinder must be kept smooth and even;

② Installation requirements: A horizontal straight pipe section of sufficient length must be installed upstream of the separator’s inlet flange connection to prevent strong turbulence at the inlet, which would reduce separation efficiency. In parallel installations, care must be taken to maintain pressure balance in the inlet pipe connections to ensure uniform gas flow distribution.
