Sodium aluminate, also known as sodium metaaluminate, is a common chemical substance—a white, odorless, tasteless, strongly alkaline solid. It is widely used in civil engineering, petrochemicals, water treatment, and many other fields.
Spray drying offers a fast drying rate. After the feed solution is atomized, its surface area increases significantly. In a hot air stream, 95%–98% of the moisture can be evaporated instantly, with the entire drying process taking only a few seconds. This method is particularly suitable for drying heat-sensitive materials.
The product exhibits excellent uniformity, flowability, and solubility, with high purity and superior quality.
The production process is streamlined, and operation and control are convenient. Liquids with a moisture content of 40–60% (up to 90% for special materials) can be dried into powdered or granular products in a single step. No grinding or screening is required after drying, which reduces production steps and improves product purity.
Key information to understand when purchasing a spray drying tower:
Feed solution name and physical properties: solids content (or moisture content), viscosity, surface tension, and pH.
Post-drying powder volume, allowable residual moisture content, particle size, and maximum allowable temperature.
Production capacity and daily operating hours.
Available energy sources: available steam pressure, electrical capacity, and available coal, oil, or gas supply.
Control requirements: whether automatic control is required for inlet and outlet temperatures.
Powder collection requirements: Whether a bag filter needs to be installed; environmental requirements for exhaust gas emissions.
Other special requirements for sodium aluminate spray drying towers.
When selecting a high-speed centrifugal spray drying tower, price is only one consideration; the following points should also be noted:
1. The product must exhibit good uniformity, good solubility, and high purity.
2. Select a high-quality spray drying tower with a longer mean time between failures (MTBF). While repairing a broken spray drying tower is a minor issue, production delays can result in significant losses.
3. Choose a manufacturer with proven production experience. The competence of a drying equipment manufacturer is largely determined by its track record; generally, the more projects completed, the richer the production experience, and the stronger the equipment manufacturing capability.
Understanding these considerations when selecting a spray drying tower is also highly beneficial for its subsequent operation.
The sodium aluminate spray drying tower is the most widely used process in the liquid processing and drying industry. It is best suited for producing powdered or granular solid products from liquid raw materials such as solutions, emulsions, suspensions, and pastes. Therefore, spray drying is an ideal process when the particle size distribution, residual moisture content, bulk density, and particle shape of the final product must meet precise standards. In a high-speed centrifugal spray drying tower, filtered and heated air enters the air distributor at the top of the dryer, and the hot air flows uniformly in a spiral pattern into the drying chamber. The feed liquid is atomized into extremely fine droplets by a high-speed centrifugal atomizer at the top of the tower and comes into co-current contact with the hot air, allowing it to dry into the finished product within a very short time. The finished product is continuously discharged from the bottom of the drying tower and the cyclone separator, while the exhaust gas is vented to the atmosphere by a fan.
